MASTERCLASS ORIGINALS
PART 1:Â Plans & Elevations
I've spent 24 years as a Feature Film Art Director working for Marvel Studios, Disney, Warner Brothers, EON Productions and Netflix. SketchUp and LayOut are the tools I use every single day on the world's biggest film sets.
This is where it all starts.
Part 1 is a 10-hour deep dive into the foundations of a professional SketchUp and LayOut workflow. We work through a real-world project — a contemporary New York Loft Apartment — from concept through to fully presented construction drawings. The same workflow I use on major film productions, taught step by step.
What you'll learn
- How to build accurate, professional 3D models in SketchUp
- How to create clean, readable plans and elevations in LayOut
- How to produce construction drawings your contractors can actually work from
- The workflow foundations you'll use on every project from here on
What's included
- 14 videos, 10 hours of training
- The completed SketchUp model for reference and practice

"100% didn't get on with SketchUp at all in uni, then followed your course and now I love it, I now find it much better than other programs, easier to use and quicker results, I still got a lot to learn but I know I can just go back and reference your course when I need to, got your other courses to go through now"

"I tried learning Sketchup multiple different ways and nothing really stuck until I took Luke's classes. The classes are easy to follow along and filled with information from modeling techniques to proper workflow to how to use Layout to present your designs.
Luke made it all finally make sense.
Even if Set Design is not your ultimate goal these classes are worth every penny if you ever wanted to learn how to use Sketchup and Layout like a pro."

As an Art Director, My preference lately has been to use Vectorworks. However, I came across Luke's tutorials and found them immensely beneficial, With a good understanding of 3D modelling, sheet layers, viewports, and render modes it is very easy to follow. There is far more to the tutorials no matter the programme you use, such as what detail levels to model to and setting out the viewports to the correct scales on the sheet layers.
